Being authentic means truly being ourselves. It's not what we think we should be, or what society, parents, family, friends tell we should be.
Living authentically means being genuine and real.
Who are we serving by not being authentic? Who are we pleasing? We certainly aren't making ourselves happy, so why do we do it? We lose sight of ourselves, and our own beliefs when we pay too much attention to what everyone else is doing on social media, and we pay too much attention to what our neighbours, friends, family and acquaintances lives are like. We owe it to ourselves to be authentic, and to live the life we truly want. We owe it to our children too, to be a good role model and to show them that living authentically is not only acceptable but essential.
I want my children to see that I love my career, I love the volunteer work I do, I love my family and chose to be, have and do what I am today. I want them to know that it is the only way to live, and that they deserve to live their own Authentic Life. And the only way I can do that is by living authentically myself.
